Walter Reed Army Medical Center – Amputee Transition Center

Design-Build Lead | Mission-Critical Medical Facility | Washington, D.C.

Fred led the design-build effort for the Amputee Transition Center at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, a pioneering facility dedicated to supporting wounded soldiers in their recovery and reintegration. This state-of-the-art center was specifically designed to help service members adapt to and train with prosthetics as they prepared to return to duty or civilian life.

The facility included a Gait Lab for motion analysis, a FATS Lab (Firearms Training Simulator), and specialized rehabilitation and treatment spaces to support physical and psychological recovery. Fred’s leadership ensured seamless collaboration between medical personnel, design professionals, and construction teams to deliver this highly specialized, mission-critical project under strict federal standards and accelerated timelines.
